Plate calculator
Type the weight you want on the bar and see what goes on each side. Pick your bar and switch off the plates your gym doesn't have; it works in pounds and kilograms.
Type a weight, or step up from the bar.
How the plates are picked
The calculator takes the bar off the total, halves what is left (a landmine loads one sleeve, so it doesn't halve), and finds the fewest plates that make that amount exactly, heaviest first. Fewest, not simply biggest first: with no 5s or 2.5s, 145 lb on a 45 lb bar is two 25s each side, which a biggest-first fill would call impossible.
When the plates can't make your number, you get the nearest weights either side that they can. The − and + buttons step through every weight your plates can load.
Standard plates are 45, 35, 25, 10, 5 and 2.5 lb, or 25, 20, 15, 10, 5, 2.5 and 1.25 kg, with 1.25 lb or 0.5 kg change plates if you have them. Bars default to 45 lb or 20 kg (Olympic), and 55 lb or 25 kg (trap bar). The drawing is to scale, so it shows when a stack is too wide for the sleeve.
